Our Story
Nazaré began when Izzi, on holiday in the Portuguese seaside town of Nazaré, discovered beautiful handwoven baskets at a local market. Instantly drawn to their unique, colourful charm, she decided to bring them home — and the idea for the business was born.
Each bag is handmade by skilled artisans using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Woven from natural reed, no two pieces are exactly alike.
By choosing Nazaré, you’re supporting heritage craftsmanship, sustainable materials, and a story that started by the sea.

Handwoven Heritage
Every bag we sell is a story — of patience, tradition, and craftsmanship passed down through generations.
In a small coastal village near Nazaré, Portugal, you’ll find women like Maria, who has been weaving reed bags by hand for over 40 years. Her loom creaks gently in rhythm with her hands, shaping each basket with skill that only time can teach.
These bags aren’t mass-produced. They’re made slowly, with care, using locally harvested reed and age-old techniques. No two are exactly the same — and that’s the point.
When you carry one of our baskets, you're not just holding something beautiful. You're holding a piece of living tradition.
